Eating Anything With a Heartbeat Contributes to Illness

by LyNel Gross
(Como, CO)

I became vegan after seeing what factory farms do to animals and the feed these animals get actually causes them to be fatter. The antibiotics and medications to keep them healthy in such close proximity to each other actually makes all of us resistant to antibiotics. The nutrition in the meat is not nearly what it used to be.

The short of it is that eating anything that had a heartbeat contributes to illness. Then our country subsidises corn and wheat to the farmers. This makes fast food cheaper than fresh fruits and vegetables. The poor of our nation suffer real health problems and severe obesity, along with type 2 diabetes. We will never get health care reform until we subsidse fresh fruits and vegetables, organically grown in the US and remove the subsidies on corn and wheat. It should be on soy, rye, and etc. as well.

My husband suffers from heart problems. Now that we eat vegan he's been able to get off of many of his 22 medications or the mgs. have been reduced. His inflammation levels are coming down and his good cholesterol is climbing. We are both in our late 60's. I had breast cancer 12 years ago and it has not come back. I don't have any other health problems and am not on a blood pressure medication. We don't have weight problems.

I still struggle with the cooking and baking. We both miss white flour and sugar and as yet haven't found a good sugar subsitute. We live at 10,000 feet in the Rockies and baking here is a real problem.

Big Belly
by: LyNel Gross

Cathleen, I have been having the most terrible time with a bloated belly. I thought it was just gas from all the beans & vegetables. I started chewing up a teaspoon of Cardamom Seeds before eating. It's working. Then began putting some Linoleic Acid & Saflower oil & Sunflower oil in a morning vegetable shake. About a Tablespoon of each. It's working. The belly is going away. Any ideas why this formula works?
