Emily Deschanel Pregnant and Vegan

Breaking News: Emily Deschanel Pregnant and Vegan

Emily Deschanel, best known currently for her leading role as forensic anthropologist on the thriller FOX series "Bones," is pregnant with her first child. She and husband David Hornsby are expecting late in 2011.

Deschanel, 34, and Hornsby were married in September 2010 and had been dating since 2007. Hornsby is best known for "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia." VegNews Magazine reported that their wedding was vegan, and was catered by LA vegan restaurant Madeline Bistro. They had some reportedly delicious seitan and vegan s'mores that were cooked with individual blow torches. So much fun!

It's so exciting to add Emily Deschanel to the list of pregnant vegan actresses in Hollywood and other famous vegans. The more attention that we can bring to positive, healthy pregnancies for women eating plant-based diets, the better.

Emily has been an excellent advocate for veganism and animal welfare for a long time. She went vegan in 1992 after watching Diet for a New America in her high school. She's appeared on many talk shows and has been featured in many magazines and articles that talk about her love of her vegan lifestlye. And, she often attends events for animal activism and animal sanctuaries. In 2010, The Humane Society of the United States gave Emily the Humane Advocate Award for her animal advocacy efforts.

Emily Deschanel pregnant might mean that her vegetarian character on Bones, Temperance Brennan, will have to be pregnant as well, but only time will tell. Maybe with the summer break, the editors will be able to work around her blooming stomach until she has the baby.

Emily's sister, Zooey, was also famously vegan for a short time, but said she didn't have the will power to continue with the lifestyle.

Congratulations to Emily Deschanel, pregnant with her first child.
