My garndmother grew up in the south. Yes, this food is not so strange to me. Everything from sausage and biscuits to liver and onions are at the heart of eating at Grandma's. Being vegan for 15 years has not staved off my desire for this indulgent food from The South. I melt every time I find a recipe that veganizes these traditional dishes. Thank you!
