Vegan Awakening After Liver Disease
I am a fifty-year-old male. Last year I was diagnosed with stage three liver disease and my doctor told me I probably had for the last three decades from hepatitis C.
That woke me up and made me more aware of my heath and mortality. I spent six months on a hellish treatment of three very serious drugs. Basically stayed on the couch for six months. I survived the treatment and beat the virus and started my new lifestyle.
I wanted to repair myself from the affects of years of bad habits. Completely naive to real factual nutrition, I began doing research on how to keep my liver from going cirrhotic. All the research brought me to the movie EARTHLINGS.
OH MY GOD! Watching that movie marked the beginning of my awakening.
I have been a staunch vegan for nine weeks now. I've dropped 17 lbs, I have soooo much energy, my doctor is very happy with my progress. I feel a sense that I am living the life God intended for us. I feel clean, healthy and have so much compassion for all living things. I love cooking and using the beautiful foods; the colors, smells, and textures are just so amazing.
My goal is to be an example for everyone I meet that this lifestyle is the one we were meant to live. I won't push my ideas or values on others, but I know that the light that now shines in my eyes has been getting the attention of the ones who already know me and then the questions start coming and I so love giving the answers.Editor's Note:
Wow! There is so much remarkable information in this post. First of all, I am so happy to hear that you survived treatment for such a serious illness.
I think many people would have been happy just to survive treatment and they might have resumed living the same way they had before getting the diagnosis. You, on the other hand, took matters into your own control and decided to change your way of life- that is so admirable.
I am completely on the same page about not forcing your ideals on anyone else. It's much better to live the best life you know how and emanate health and happiness and then have people come to you asking how to get the same healthfulness in their lives.
You truly are an inspiration and I hope you continue to share your light with anyone who asks. Congratulations on your new life!
