You Won't Believe The Number
of Vegan Celebrities...
I hear about new vegan celebrities all the time, and I think it can only help increase public knowledge of the benefits of a vegan diet. Most people have idols, and often those people are prominent public figures like actors, musicians, athletes, or political leaders, and many people wish they could live the lifestyle of those famous people. Sometimes all it takes is saying, "Did you know ____ is a vegan?" to get someone's attention and let them know that other people are doing it. If someone's worried about being a skinny vegan man, tell them about Woody Harrelson or Carl Lewis. If someone thinks being a vegan's not cool, tell them about Joan Jett. If they're worried they'll never be a good leader, tell them about Steve Jobs or Dennis Kucinich.
You can no longer stick vegans into one category and get away with it, and these celebs help us prove that the stereotype is dead. As far as I know, this is the most complete list of vegan celebrities, and I update it anytime I can be certain that someone is definitely vegan. With prominent documentaries like Earthlings and Forks Over Knives going mainstream, many people decide to drop meat and dairy products immediately, and if they're a celebrity, I've heard about it. If they sustain that diet, they make the list. There are soooo many extra celebrities who are vegetarians-- ranging from lacto-ovo to strict vegetarians, and those diets are impressive and helpful as well, but we're keeping this one to just vegan celebrities.
