"How long do withdrawals last?"

"I made a commitment to become a vegan 5 weeks and 5 days ago. I went cold turkey. I knew that a change such as this might cause me to feel worse before I got better. I understand and was ready for this.

However, after almost 6 weeks, I'm feeling really sluggish, tired ALL the time, and kind of over-all crummy. I thought I'd be feeling better by now, and I've only slipped once (cheese) in about 6 weeks.

I'm eating lots of whole grains and fruit, and try to get raw veggies in about 5 days a week for lunch. I'm drinking a decent amount of water, very little caffeine, and sleeping as usual.

When will I start to feel better? I mean, I feel the positive effects of the change in diet, certainly. But I'm so lethargic all the time... It's really affecting my life and work."

I went vegan long enough ago that withdrawals are a distant memory. Is anyone out there more recently vegan? Did you experience withdrawals?

Vegan Buche de Noel

Even classic French desserts can be made vegan without anyone being the wiser, and this is a perfect example. My mom used to make a buche for Christmas when I was a kid and I'd been curious how easily it could be veganized. The answer is... very.

It's a recipe with multiple steps, but none of them is particularly difficult. And besides, being the one to present this beauty is worth all the effort.

Try my Buche de Noel for the holidays this year.

How is Your Blender Treating You?

I've gone on and on about Vitamix before, talking about how I use it daily and how its power never ceases to amaze me. But I find that during the holidays I really crank up my usage.

And yes, it's expensive, but you get what you pay for. Check out my full Vitamix review here. There are also really exceptional deals on reconditioned machines, which come with the same guarantee and function like new, for a fraction of the cost.

I also added a whole page with my favorite Vitamix recipes, including my favorite holiday recipes.
