Ruben Studdard Lost 100 Pounds on Vegan Diet

by Angela Smithton
(Los Angeles, CA)

American Idol winner Ruben Studdard, has recently gone vegan and lost 100 pounds doing so. He is a true testimony that veganism can lead to a healthier lifestyle along with major weight loss. I also heard he's got a killer vegan Mac and Cheese recipe!

Editor's Reply:
Thanks for this update, Angela. I read the same thing too. Ruben was 350 pounds when he was on American Idol in 2003, and then ended up gaining another 100 pounds. In 2008 he became a vegetarian and then in early 2010 he became a vegan. He said it was easier than he thought, so anyone who thinks they "could never go vegan" should think about Ruben.

In interviews, Ruben has mentioned many of the common switchover foods such as veggie burgers and other soy products. Hopefully he keeps moving and eventually ends up at a whole foods-based vegan diet with plenty of whole grains, beans, vegetables, and fruits. Then he'll see an amazing amount of weight loss.

If anyone can find Ruben Studdard's amazing vegan mac and cheese recipe, please share it here!
